1. Water Solutions

While it soothes your skin, it keeps it hydrated and nourished from deep within while working on other skin-related issues as well like sunburns, aging, scars, etc. Planting an aloe vera plant is easy and you can directly use it by cutting out the gel from the spiky leaf of aloe vera. Or you can mix it with water and a few drops of essential oil of your choice to create a mask. Apply it to your skin and leave it for 30 mins before washing it away with cool water.

It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. You can use olive oil as a cleanser which in return will hydrate and humidify the skin. One of the DIYs you can try is olive oil with sugar, which is a homemade exfoliator. It will help your skin to glow and remove dead skin cells. Take one tbsp each of olive oil and sugar and applies it to your face. Massage the mixture in a circular motion and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it away with cool water. 

4. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is popularly used for hair care. But it is good for skin too as it acts as a moisturizer and fills the spaces between skin cells and creates a smooth surface. It is one of the inexpensive home remedies for dry skin. Coconut oil can fight free radicals and prevent oxidative stress on the skin. It has numerous fatty acids like lauric and oleic which treat mild to moderate dryness of the skin. Apply coconut oil right after taking a shower or before going to bed at night.

5. Almond Oil

Another age-old home remedy for dry skin is almond oil. Almond oil contains emollient properties which treat dry skin problems and reduce the risk of having eczema, psoriasis, and other skin problems caused by dry skin. Applying this oil will protect the skin from harmful UV rays and nourishes the skin and makes it smooth. Apply oil to your skin and leave it overnight. The next day, wash it away with cool water. 

6. Cucumber

Eating cucumber helps in keeping the digestive system cool and it is a natural treatment for dry skin that offers instant relief. Cucumber is known to contain 90 % water. Research says that skin cosmetics containing cucumber extracts offer better moisturization than other elements. Take 2 tbsp each of cucumber pulp and aloe vera gel in a bowl and make a smooth paste. Apply the mixture to your face and wash it away after 15-20 minutes with cool water. 

7. Oatmeal

Dry skin eventually leads to itchiness and itchiness makes the skin rough. Oatmeals are a great form of moisturizer which soothes the skin from redness and irritation. The anti-inflammatory properties in oatmeals help to reduce itchiness. It protects the skin from UV rays and is a great form of exfoliator.

Use the food processor to turn the oatmeal into a fine powder. Mix the powder with lukewarm water and apply it to your face. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and wash it off with cool water. After washing your face, apply a good moisturizer to lock away the barrier.

Applying yogurt will remove the dead cells away from the skin and will make the skin glow. Apply yogurt to your face and leave it on for 10 minutes. You can add a tbsp of honey to the yogurt. Wash it away with cool water. 

9. Avocado

Another natural dry skin remedy is Avocado. Not only it is healthy to add Avocado to your diet but it is a great thing to add to your skincare regime. It is heavily loaded with fatty acids and vitamins like A, C, D, and E that treats dry skin and works as an intense moisturization. Avocado also contains anti-inflammatory properties which reduce dryness. Avocado does wonders to soothe your dry skin and remove dead skin by a great measure.

Take half of the Avocado and make a puree of it. Add a tbsp of olive oil or honey to the puree as it will increase the effect of the mask. Apply the mask and leave it for 30 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water to get glowing skin free of irritation and rough texture.

10. Humidifier

Every weather affects the skin differently. Winter is known as the driest season of all and that is the time when taking care of your dry skin is important. Humidifiers are mostly associated with cool weather, but they can be useful in other seasons too, especially in relieving weather dryness brought by the climate. Humidifiers seem like an expensive investment but it is worth the money as it restores the moisture level of the skin, especially during winters. According to research done at Harvard Medical School, a humidifier set to 60% is enough to revive the moisture in your home environment which gets stripped off of moisture by gas and electric heat.
