1. Prep your skin

The first thing you need to do before heading out of your home is to prep your skin. Apply coconut oil properly into your skin, or use a thick moisturizer on your face.

2. Sunscreen is a must

After moisturizing your skin, you must now apply a generous amount of sunscreen with more than 30 SPF. Sunscreen shouldn’t be skipped at any cost to avoid any skin damage.

3. Pay attention to what you wear

The right clothing plays an essential role when stepping out to play Holi. Make sure you wear light, breathable fabrics and something that covers most of your skin. Wearing full sleeves kurta makes your skin lesser exposed to chemical colors, leaving your skin damaged.

4. Prep your nails

Your nails are as important as your face, and need proper attention, especially if your wedding is just around the corner. The holi colors often stain your nails making them look bad. We recommend you first trim your nails and apply a nice, dark-colored shade a day before Holi. You can also apply some olive oil or coconut oil on cuticles so Holi color doesn’t get easily around nails.

5. Lip care

While taking care of your skin, especially your face, how can we miss covering your lips with a thick layer of petroleum jelly/vaseline? This will not only keep cracking your lips with colors but also keep them well moisturized. You can apply a lip balm with SPF for better effect.

6. Say hello to organic colors

We have seen a revolutionary wave in using and promoting organic stuff. Whether it’s organic vegetables, fruits, or even organic skincare & haircare products. Try and use organic colors that are harmless on your skin and can be removed easily. You must not play with any other colors, especially if you have sensitive skin or if your wedding date is very near.

1. Clean it well

The first thing you should do after coming back home is to wash your face with a good face wash well, making sure you are covering every part of your face from eyes, lips, nose, and ears with vaseline or coconut oil.

2. Exfoliating

Use a natural exfoliator and mix a few drops of coconut oil and sugar. Rub your face well with this homemade exfoliator before washing it off with water. It not only helps to remove dead skin cells but also takes off the color more easily. Do not forget to moisturize your skin well with a good hydrating moisturizer.

3. Ice cubes to the rescue

Holi takes place in March, mostly in an open area where the chances of getting sunburnt are more. The harsh sun and holi colors do not do well for your skin and end up making your skin burnt and leaving redness. To treat the affected areas, rubbing ice cubes wrapped up in a thin cloth would be an ideal treatment as it will not only tighten up your pores but make your skin look fresh.

4. No Makeup

We must avoid using any makeup for at least a week after Holi. Your skin already had several chemicals, and exposing it to more chemicals would do no good to you. Let your skin breathe and heal back taking its own sweet time.

5. Olive Oil/Coconut Oil To The Rescue

Olive oil helps in removing excess color by massaging it on the skin, and then wiping it off with a wet cloth.

6. Say no to waxing

No waxing, facial, or bleach after Holi, at least for a week or two to avoid any further damage to your skin.

7. Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated can help to release chemicals that have been consumed while playing Holi.

8. Home Remedies

Nothing beats home remedies and DIY facemasks to get rid of the Holi color and bring back your glowing skin. Try these face packs:

1. Make a mixture of gram flour with milk, lemon juice, and a pinch of turmeric powder to scrub off the color.

2. Make a face pack with a mixture using sandalwood, Haldi, or honey for glowing skin.

3. Use mashed papaya with olive oil on your skin, leave it for some time before washing it off with water.

Pre Holi Hair Care Tips For Brides-To-Be!

1. Oiling your hair is a must

Playing Holi with your hair oiled is the only option to protect them from getting damaged. You can apply coconut oil, olive oil, or any other to reduce the effects of the colors chemicals. We also recommend you tie your hair in a bun or a braid, instead of leaving them to leave open to avoid more damage.

2. Scarves are a good choice

Covering your head with caps and scarves is a great pre-holi hair care tip we must follow. It serves two purposes - protecting your head from all the chemicals and making you look stylish.

3. Do not wash your hair

Do not wash your hair on the day of Holi or a day before Holi as it will leave your scalp open to chemicals that are there in Holi colors. Plus, it doesn’t really matter whether your hair is oily, or unwashed. Nonetheless, your hair is going to be filled with colors, no matter how hard you try to protect.

1. Shampooing

The first thing to do to take care of your hair after playing Holi is to wash your hair properly with loads of water and then shampoo it properly with a natural shampoo. Massage the shampoo onto your scalp well to make sure all the color washes off and doesn't stay.

2. Conditioning is a must

After shampooing, you must condition your hair to nourish and moisturize them. A conditioner followed by a serum immediately after washing your hair will leave your hair silky and smooth.

3. Wash Your Hair With Beer

We have often tried washing our hair with beer at least once in our life, without truly knowing its benefits. Using beer instead of shampoo can help in washing off your color immediately from the roots. It not only acts as a cleanser but also conditions your hair.

4. Homemade Masks For Hair

Natural remedies are really very important in keeping your skin and hair safe. You can try this effective homemade mask for hair care:

1. Mix honey in mashed egg and keep it on for 30 minutes before washing it off with water. It helps regain the smoothness and texture of your hair.

2. A mix of egg, honey, and yogurt. Mix one well-beaten egg with one tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of yogurt and apply it on your scalp for 20 minutes before washing it off with water.
