Sabyasachi Heritage Collection: A Celebration Of Classic India

Apr 22, 2022

“India is not just about bright oranges and fuchsia pinks. When you travel across the country and wander into old homes and palaces, gaze into ancient frescoes and miniatures, you will see and feel the most magical of powdered pastels that are unmistakably Indian,’’ - said Sabyasachi’s Instagram post while launching his heritage collection of 2022. It is not the first time that with his bridal collection, Sabyasachi is taking the internet by storm, but he is also making everyone go bonkers about it.

He launched his collection with the first outfit being Katina Kaif's bridal lehenga, the other being the colors he used for some of his outfits that are not only adding freshness to his collection but also representing the real India. This heritage collection is an homage to the Indian tradition, and a celebration of classics in the signature shade of reds and fabrics like Matka Silk, Organza, Brocade with the fine handcrafted zardozi, tilla work, and gota.

9 Elements We Loved From Sabyasachi's Heritage Bridal Collection 2022

While in this collection you will find the familiar red Sabyasachi lehenga but with the fine work mentioned earlier, along with it, you will also find other colors like shades of yellow and green, powder pink, pastels, nude orange, and lilac.

1. Fresh Additions

Sabyasachi is known for using bright colors or florals when it comes to the bridal collection, but this powder pink and blue lehenga was a fresh addition that we just couldn't stop gazing at it.

2. Dusty Lavender Beauty

Our personal favorite would be this dusty lavender-colored lehenga. And the double dupatta with contrasting work is definitely the cherry on the cake.

3. Say Yes to Neon Shades

The use of colors like yellow and green almost leans towards the neon shades is sure to be bookmarked for your wedding ceremonies.

The Chartreuse green which is a blend of yellow and green took our hearts. We cannot wait to see brides choosing these lehengas in the coming wedding season.

4. The Katrina Kaif Lehenga

Talking about his love for heritage in play in his latest collection, Sabyasachi is very clear about how Indian weddings are a way to revive the age-old art and crafts of India. When asked about the way he dolls up his brides he says, "There are many ways to interpret bridal beauty but I keep coming back to the tried and tested. Kajal Luned eyes, a dollop of kumkum and bare skin. There is a minimalism to our traditional beauty rituals that pairs so elegantly with the maximalism of our bridal clothing and jewelry,"

The brides who loved Katrina Kaif’s bridal outfit that was inspired by Vicky Kaushal’s Punjabi roots can now finally add them to their wardrobe. Her red bridal outfit was in a raw silk base with fine tilla work and meticulously embroidered silver zardozi borders in velvet. The veil was custom made with hand-beaten kiran and silver electroplated gold.

5. Multicolored Galore

Another one of the most talked-about outfits is the multicolored lehenga with the Deep V-neck blouse, which is what Katrina Kaif wore at her Mehndi ceremony. The paneled lehenga with the colors and the intricate work is making it the highlight of the bridal collection.

It is quirky yet so graceful and so vibrant that it took our hearts at one glance. Just look at the details of this outfit, you will not be able to put words to such a fine piece of art.

6. Such Royalty

When we are talking about the multicolored lehenga, then how can we miss out on this netted saree with a multicolored blouse and a churidar set, it was screaming royalty and comfort at the same time. We loved the intricate work on these two outfits and the way the colors did not overpower each shade.

7. Chartreuse Green Saree

The sarees in this collection are something different yet familiar. The use of Chartreuse green - a shade of yellow-green is something that nobody thought would look that stunning in both lehenga and a saree. It is a color that we have not seen in ethnic wear, but when the maestro himself used it for his bridal collection, it looked absolutely gorgeous.

8. Glittery Reception Outfit

Thinking of ditching the heavy lehenga for your reception, then go for this green Sabyasachi saree that will make you earn loads of compliments.

9. Love The Florals

How about this eye-catching floral shimmery piece? Pair it with a statement neckpiece or earrings and you are all set for your sangeet or reception night.

The pastel colors are adding freshness to this collection alongside the regular bridal red that Sabyasachi is known for. For his jewelry line, he quoted, "For most of the brides I know, jewelry isn't just an investment, it's an heirloom that is a part of a legacy that transcends time. This is why I bring back ancient and nearly forgotten techniques like double jadai, langar-pohai, and naqahi."
