15 Elements We Loved From Ranbir & Alia’s Intimate Home WeddingSouth Asian Wedding Neha Garg Ahuja
After the royal and intimate wedding ceremony of Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal in Rajasthan, we knew somewhere that we do not have to wait for long to witness the union of the cutest Bollywood couple, Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt. And when they finally tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the presence of close friends and family, we had our widest smiles. We were waiting with our batted breaths to see them as a married couple, all decked up in wedding attire, surrounded by their loved ones, and when Alia released the first wedding photos, our eyes were glued to looking at the gorgeous and much in love couple. The wedding was something very special, very personal, very intimate, and something that looked like oodles of fun. Two people deeply in love got married in their favorite place on Earth - their balcony where they spent five years of their relationship.
15 Elements We Loved from Ranbir-Alia’s Intimate Home Wedding
It was not a big fat wedding, but numerous elements made this wedding, a memorable & different one from the rest of the Bollywood weddings.
1. Ivory Wedding Outfits
Ditching the traditional red or pink outfits, Alia and Ranbir made for an ethereal couple, looking heavenly in their ivory ensembles on their big day. For the wedding day, Alia was seen wearing a hand-dyed ivory organza saree embroidered with tilla work. Ranbir, on the other hand, wore an embroidered silk sherwani with Sabyasachi uncut diamond buttons, a silk organza safa, and a shawl with zari marori embroidery.
2. A Saree over a Lehenga
While almost all of us anticipated which lehenga color or designer would Alia wear for her big day, her bridal look rather came as a surprise. She chose to wear a saree, instead of a lehenga and completed her look with a gorgeous, handwoven tissue veil that had a scalloped bored, giving inspiration to all the brides-to-be.
She even added a personal touch by getting her wedding date embroidered on the outfit, which says - The Fourteenth of April 2022'.
3. Got married in the presence of close friends and family
It's not the scale of the wedding that makes it a success, it's the people who are involved and the love that they share. Alia and Ranbir's wedding was a close-knitted affair with only their close family and friends.
4. Intimate Home Wedding Ceremony
While we loved Deepika and Ranveer's destination wedding at the Villa del Balbianello in Lake Como, Italy, but nothing comes close to intimate weddings in the comfort of your home. Alia & Ranbir got married at their most favorite place on Earth - their balcony where they spent five years of their relationship, and we loved it.
5. The Minimal Mehndi Design
Whether it was choosing to wear a light work outfit or a minimal mehndi design with a mandala, Alia's bridal look is an inspo for brides who love minimalism.
Alia has always been a fan of minimal makeup looks, so her #nomakeupbridallook with flushed cheeks, tinted lips, and full brows only seemed fair. Not only this will be an inspiration to future brides, but it is also the perfect way to accentuate your natural features.
7. Open Hair with Light Waves
While most of the brides go for elaborate buns with fancy flowers, Alia chose to leave her hair open with light waves and oh boy, she looked wow!
8. Color-coordinated Jewelry
While Alia & Ranbir's choice of outfit for their wedding was very subtle, their jewels on the other hand were all about glitters. Alia wore Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery featuring uncut diamonds and hand-strung pearls and completed her bridal look with a mix of huge kadas and red bangles.
Ranbir, on the other hand, completed his look with a kalgi by Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery featuring uncut diamonds, emeralds, pearls, and a multistrand pearl necklace.
9. Exclusive Kaleeras
We have seen brides wearing silver kaleeras, traditional red kaleeras, love story kaleeras, and even dry coconut kaleeras, but Alia's dainty kaleeras consist of clouds, stars, butterflies, birds, flowers, and infinity signs that looked like magic. These beautiful kaleeras were designed by none other than Mrinalini Chandra who is known to have designed iconic Kaleeras previously for Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and many other Bollywood brides.
And this time, we were swooning over Alia's minimal, rose gold kaleeras!
10. Butterflies Embroidered on the Blouse
One of the beautiful things we spotted on Alia's outfit was the butterflies embroidered on the blouse which caught our attention immediately. it surely looked unique and pretty.
11. Baby's Breath Jaimala
Jaimala's can make or break your wedding photos. And with a pool of options to choose from for your Jaimala like rose, foliage, leaves, artificial flowers, and marigolds, we loved seeing baby's breath and jasmine jaimalas exchanged by the couple.
12. Four Pheras Instead of Seven
As confirmed by Alia's older brother, Rahul Bhatt, the duo took only four instead of seven pheras around the holy fire. The meaning of each phera was Dharma, Artha, kama, and Moksha, symbolizing love, peace, and prosperity.
The phera ceremony was done by a pandit that has been with the Kapoor family for years now.
13. Ranbirs Lucky Number 8 / Infinity Mangalsutra
Not only did Alia customize Ranbir's lucky number 8 into her Kaleeras, but she also chose a dainty and very pretty mangalsutra that has the number 8, which also signifies infinity.
14. A Floral Cake
This minimal and rustic cake decorated with dried flowers and leaves in multicolor surely did go with their whole wedding vibe.
15. Ranbir Carrying Alia to her New Home
The best is for the last. After the ceremony, when the duo came out to say hello to the media, Ranbir carried Alia up in his arms and carried her back into their home with all smiles. It was the most romantic thing, and we were all in awe of it.
Cheers to their new beginning!
