Now the next obvious step is to fix the date, and once that is done, make sure you make a checklist of all the things to ease your life. From making a list of guests attending the wedding to deciding and finalizing the venue, and vendors, to shopping for your trousseau and deciding on the wedding theme, and oh boy, how can you forget the food - what to serve for pre-wedding ceremonies, wedding day, reception (if you are going to have one) and especially deciding - what kind of wedding you want? Yoga is known to work wonders for both the mental and physical health of an individual. There are asanas in yoga that make the body better equipped to deal with stress and calm your body. As a bride-to-be, you might have hectic wedding planning, and stress while you are in the process of getting things done and making sure even the smallest of the details are taken care of. But one thing you should not stop doing, and that is -enjoying your own wedding. Sometimes, while organizing and planning the perfect wedding, you forget to pause, take a deep breath and enjoy the most memorable days of your life. And to make all this worth a while, you must engage yourself in meditation and yoga to help you calm down your nerves and will prevent you from taking too much stress from the wedding. 

Things to keep in mind before practicing these Yoga asanas: 

  • If you are a beginner, try all the postures gently so that your body can avoid sudden jerks or muscle pulls.

  • Try every pose 3 times in the beginning and then extend the duration once your body gets used to it.

  • Watch the videos consciously and learn step by step.

  • Keep the body and mind relaxed while performing these poses for effective results.

1. Bhujangasana - Cobra Pose

This asana is the prominent one in hatha yoga and is also known as the cobra or snake pose. The word Bhujangasana itself describes its meaning and defines how this pose is helpful for wedding jitters. It can help the to-be brides in combating their anxiety, stress, and nervousness before the wedding. Practicing this asana for 10 minutes every day has several health benefits like strengthening the entire back and shoulders, improving blood circulation, relieving the shoulder and neck pain, and reducing the fatigue and stress levels in the body. This asana is also beneficial for those who are suffering from any kind of respiratory disorder. To all the brides, we would suggest doing this asana in the morning or evening to bring magnanimous changes.

How to do this asana?

Step 1: A light warm-up is recommended before this asana.

Step 2: Place your yoga mat on a plain surface, and let the body lie down on your stomach with your toes flat and face upwards on the mat.

Step 3: Place both your hands near your torso and keep the elbows parallel to each other and bend the forehead to the ground.

Step 4: Keep your body calm and relaxed while doing this asana.

Step 5: Slowly inhale and lift your head, chest, and abdomen in the upwards direction. Keep the navel on the floor and body in the same posture till you complete 3 to 4 breaths.

Step 6: Now exhale slowly while pulling the torso back and off the floor with the help of both hands. 

Step 7: Repeat this pose 5 to 6 times and do not stretch the body a lot when you pull them up and down.

2. Sukhasana - The Easy Pose

The simplest hatha yoga is Sukhasana, where the body just rests in a cross-legged posture. This asana helps in attainting the attention to breathing only while the entire body sits and stays erect. The benefit of this posture is that all the nerves could be revitalized and focused without stretching and twisting the body. 

How to do this asana?

Step 1: Sit straight in the cross-legged position with your spine erect.

Step 2: Place both hands in the upwards direction.

Step 3: Close your eyes and start inhaling and exhaling slowly and focus on your third eye. 

Step 4: You can start with 5 minutes and later extend the timing as per your comfort.

Step 5: This will not only de-stress the mind but will also strengthen the body from the inside.

3. Uttanasana - Standing Forward Bend Pose

We believe every pose is different and stretches the body to another level. Uttanasana is one with multiple aids. In simple words, Uttanasana is a standing and forward bending pose that helps our back and spine to rejuvenate their cells and also let blood flows to the brain. The right technique of this asana can give you a toned body. 

How to do this asana?

Step 1: Stand comfortably and place your hands on your waist. 

Step 2: Keep the feet grounded and while breathing out, gently bend your body down from the waist and rest your chest and stomach on your thighs.

Step 3: Now when you straighten out your legs, let the chest and stomach never leave your thighs.

Step 4: Once you feel comfortable in this pose, hang your head and place the palms on the ground, and remain in this posture for 30 sec to 1 min.

Step 5: While holding in this position, inhale and exhale gently and let the blood circulate through the body.

Step 6: When releasing this pose, place your hands on the waist and slowly push the body upwards and inhale. 

Step 7: Rest for some time and try this pose 4 to 5 times.

4. Setu Bandhasana - Bridge Pose

To calm the brain and the jitters that keep pushing the nervousness out and not let us focus properly, learning the bridge pose can do miracles. This easy pose is just a few steps away from you and will help your entire body to overcome the madness you are dealing with. 

How to do this asana?

Step 1: The first step is to lie down on your back and let the legs and foot rest.

Step 2: Fold your knees, arms straight, and palm facing the ground.

Step 3: Now inhale and slowly uplift the lower body, back, and chest in the upward direction and let the shoulder, neck, and feet hold the weight to be in this firm pose.

Step 4: Take 4 to 5 gentle breathing, hold this pose and then slowly exhale to release the body in the normal position.

Step 5: Relax for a few seconds and try again 5 to 6 times for a better outcome.

5. Janusirasana - Head To Knee Pose

This hale and hearty asana are best for the brides who are not able to overpower their butterflies in the stomach and experience some kind of numbness in the body for any reason. This head-to-knee pose will provide you with the much-needed relief you are looking for during the wedding planning phase. 

How to do this asana?

Step 1: Sit with a straight spine posture with the legs stretched out in front of you.

Step 2: Fold your left knee and bring the sole of your left foot near to the right thigh.

Step 3: Bend your upper body towards the extended right leg.

Step 4: While inhaling, slowly extend your hand towards your right foot, lock them around the foot, and then while exhaling, release your hand and body gently.

Step 5: This posture can help you strengthen the spine and back muscles.

Step 6: Try this posture 4 to 5 times to calm your mind.

6. Trikonasana | Triangle Yoga Pose

The best part about the triangle pose is, that it solidifies the arms, knees, legs, ankles as well as chest. It also circulates the right amount of oxygen in the body to bring down anxiety and nervousness. 

How to do this asana?

Step 1: Stand straight and take a deep breath. 

Step 2: Separate your feet wide apart and turn the right foot at a 90 degrees angle and the left foot by 15 degrees.

Step 3: Make sure your feet are comfortable and can balance the weight of the body. 

Step 4: Stretch your hand in the T-shape.

Step 5: Now inhale deeply and as you exhale, bend your body to the right, keeping the hips straight and allowing the left hand in the air and right hand to the floor. Keep both the arms straight in line.

Step 6: Stretch the body and be steady and keep taking in deep breaths, and with each exhalation, calm your mind and de-stress yourself.

Step 7: Now inhale and bring the body back and straighten your feet.

Step 8: Repeat the same for the other side too.

7. Tadasana - Tadasana | Mountain Pose 

This asana is also known as the foundation of the standing yoga postures as engages the entire body and mind. This is a refreshing pose to overcome the hassle of wedding preparations. 

How to do this asana?

Step 1: Stand straight and balanced on both feet.

Step 2: Gently inhale and raise your arms above your head, interlock the fingers and let the palm face upwards and raise the ankles to some distance from the floor.

Step 3: Stay in that pose for 40 seconds and then while exhaling roll the hands and shoulder back to the normal posture.

Step 4: Relax for a minute and repeat the pose till you feel comfortable doing it.

8. Pranayama

If you can't push your body much or are not comfortable practicing other postures, try this asana, and focusing on inhaling and exhaling can help you out with all the problems. 

How to do this asana?

Step 1: Sit in an easy cross-legged posture.

Step 2: Place your hands on your thighs in the upwards direction.

Step 3: Place your right thumb on the right side of the nose.

Step 4: Inhale from the left side and hold the left side with the help of the middle fingers and release the right thumb and exhale from the right side.

Step 5: Repeat this inhalation and exhalation for five minutes and then extend the timing.

Step 6: Ensure that you focus on your inhalation and exhalation more.

9. Shavasana - Corpse Pose

The Shavasana also called the resting pose is the pose where we do not need any movements or stretching. Lying on your back with your legs and hands wide open is what we all need to do. Just practice this at the last of your yoga session for 15 minutes to shed off all the fatigue and worry of wedding planning and preparations.
