Gagan & Kevan's Waterfront Wedding In Surrey Is Everything Regal

Having a crush on someone is a common tale we hear almost every day, but getting your crush to date you and then getting married to them after a decade is inspiring and a story worth sharing! Kevan and Gagan went to the same school where he was in French Immersion class and Gagan used to attend the English class. Little did she know that Kevan had a crush on her till he stole her report card to start a conversation at the age of 15. Like any other school friends, they also started hanging out and one day Kevan asked Gagan to be his girlfriend as he was soon going to move to a different school.

Proposal

After being with each other for 11 years, Kevan finally popped the question to Gagan. The proposal was straight out of a movie scene where Kevan picked 11 important places that meant something to both of them. And every place had a handwritten letter from Kevan to Gagan, handed by one of their family members. The last spot Kevan selected was the same spot where he asked her to be his girlfriend 11 years ago and this time he asked her again but to be his life partner. After Gagan said yes, he surprised her with an after-party with their friends and family.

Engagement Ring

Gagan always wanted a Tacori princess cut ring but then Kevan one day surprised her with a date night where they went to try a few rings and had a nice dinner. While trying the rings on, Gagan realized Kevan had great taste, and he selected three rings. Kevan got Gagan a diamond ring with a halo that's simply stunning.

Wedding Shopping

Gagan was given a budget by both her mother and mother-in-law, by which she bought statement pieces that are classic and could be worn again. She was a Covid Bride so all her shopping mostly took place online. For her wedding, she went with the Indian designer Rimple and Harpreet, and for other outfits, she designed them in Surrey as she had inspiration and ideas for them beforehand.

Her jewelry for all the events was from JIJI Collection and Hookum Design in Surrey, BC.

Mehndi Ceremony

For the Mehndi ceremony, Gagan chose a unique outfit that she ordered from Market Clothing.

The dhoti saree in teal blue color with a high pony and light waves was giving a traditional next-door girl vibe.

Her beautiful Mehndi was designed by Iti Kalsi (@mehndibyiti).

PS: We can't help but notice their love for basketball as part of her mehndi design.

Mehndi Decor

The mehndi decor had a fun boho theme with Moroccan colors and a long floor table setup with cushions.

Sangeet Night

The Sangeet night was a super fun night with lots of dancing, colors, and happy vibes.

For the ceremony, our bride Gagan went with a blush pink lehenga and high ponytail looking like a barbie doll.

The highlight of her outfit was a creative evil eye design on the border of her dupatta and on the lehenga skirt that grabbed our attention instantly. It is looking really unique and something that we have not seen a lot of brides wearing.

Maiyaan/Choora Ceremony

The ceremony had everything that made us love it. From decor to outfits to personalization, everything was inspiring.

While the bride’s side had a rangoli design inspired by the ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’ show, the groom’s side rangoli was inspired by the ‘Laker’s’.

The bride's side decor was done with Moroccan colors and had a pretty Sangria bar.

Whereas for the groom's decor, Kevan’s mother went with a Laker’s theme haldi decor and it looked nothing less than fabulous.

Outfit

For the ceremony, Gagan designed her own outfit complimenting her mother’s wedding dupatta that she is seen wearing here.

From her jewelry with pretty details to juttis with ghungroos, everything is bookmark worthy about her look.

Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremony of Gagan and Kevan was an intimate affair organized on their 13th anniversary in a park nearby.

There was a waterfall at the park that served as a beautiful setup for their ceremony. In front of the waterfall, the seating structure was designed and it looked peaceful and very pretty at the same time.

Bridal Outfit

Gagan selected her wedding outfit virtually with Rimple and Harpreet and her experience was amazing to say the least!

She was totally surprised by their services as they delivered everything on time and just how she wanted everything to be. And the best part was - she did not need any alteration. The outfit fit her as it was made only for her.

The lightish grey color lehenga with intricate design and the red dupatta made her whole look absolutely stunning.

Groom Outfit

Kevan, on the other hand, looked regal complementing his bride in a grey sherwani with a dark green turban. He completed his look with a side stole, four-layered haar, and a kalgi with hanging pearls.

A female granthi was present to bless the couple and the bride’s mother did the palla rasam in presence of their close friends and family, just as Gagan and Kevan wanted.

Reception Party

The couple went with a modern classic glam theme for the post-wedding party. They had a long clear glass table set up with white flowers and long arches for the entrance.

For their outfit, Gagan chose a grey embellished lehenga designed by Sunny Bridal, and Kevan wore a black tux from Hugo Boss, complementing each other in the best possible way and serving us with #couplegoals!

Choice of Songs

Gagan and Kevan’s made their couple entrance on 'Forever by Chris Brown' as it was the same song played on their first date when they were 15.

For their first dance, they choose 'Make It To Me' by Sam Smith as it’s their relationship song and they both are Sam Smith fans.

Tips for Brides-to-be from Gagan

  1. Organize all your outfits with jewelry/accessories in advance and have them steamed and hung up
  2. Choose a place to get ready and people to get ready with (HMUA) that are creating a peaceful/calm energy presence for your big day
  3. Stay hydrated and sleep as much as you can during the wedding week because the wedding day is LONG
  4. Heavy wedding lehengas bruise your hip - try to put something on it before putting the lehenga on as the bruise lasted 3 weeks and is not pretty for the honeymoon
