Reena And Krupal’s Intimate Wedding After Dreamy Proposal In NY

Love is in the air and today we're excited to share Reena and Krupal's love story! Read on to see how they met and what advice they have for couples.

How did you and your partner meet? What's your love story?

Before pursuing a career in finance, I wanted to become a dentist. I was introduced to Krupal as a means of being able to ask for advice and insight on the interviewing and application process because he was in dental school at the time. Everything was completely platonic. The conversation kept flowing day by day and we slowly branched out of dental school talk. There was not a day where we didn't talk after that. A few months had passed by, and we decided it was time to meet up to see where this could potentially go. We had to find a central location to Miami and Charlotte as he was in school there. So we decided upon a weekend in Savannah, which has lots to do and is beautiful. We spent a whole weekend touring the city, eating lots of good food, and getting to know each other more and the rest is history!

And how did he pop the question?

He popped the question when we were visiting New York City. At Rockefeller Center in the Ice Skating rink. We were nearing the end of our skating time slot and everyone slowly started clearing the rink, but he wanted to make one round while no one else was there. We came near the Christmas tree and our song, Perfect by Ed Sheeran began to play.. he turned around, got on his knee, and popped the question.

How was the wedding planning process for you?

Luckily we were able to work with all of the vendors and our venue gave us all of our money back, but we only had about 1 month to get everything sorted when we found out that COVID was getting in the way of our plans. At the end of the day, I wouldn't change a thing. Of course, we wanted to have all of our friends and family celebrate with us in person, but we were able to celebrate with them virtually. Everything was so unpredictable that we had to learn to just go with the flow, but at the end of the day, all that mattered was that I would get to marry my best friend, physically and virtually surround by all that we love. We hope to celebrate big with those who couldn't make it in the near future.

The wedding planning process was a whirlwind for us. Luckily we were able to go to India right before COVID hit to get our shopping done, but we were forced to change our guest list from 500 people to about 100. Seeing that we still wanted to get married on our original date, we decided to go forward with withholding a more intimate ceremony as it would be the safest.

What advice would you give to newly engaged couples?

The biggest piece of advice I would give to newly engaged couples is to enjoy the process of planning. It only comes once in your life and you do not want to stress out more than you enjoy it. Brides, soak in all the time you can with your family at home- it's such a cherishable time period that can be hard to come across when you get busy and settled in your new life. When the week of your wedding arrives, put all your stress to the side- at that point, there isn't much that you can change or isn't much that can go wrong.

What are you guys up to now?

We are settled in Florida. Krupal works as a dentist and I work in Finance. COVID got in the way of us having our honeymoon, but we have found other ways to enjoy ourselves with weekend trips here and there and even staycations nearby as we are close to so many beaches. COVID has forced us to find hobbies that keep us going and keep us safe. It's been tough on some days, but at the end of the day, we are living a happy and healthy life and hope to continue to enjoy all the little things that COVID has made us grow more fond of.
