Karishma & Shay's Dreamy Indian Wedding In Mexico With The Most Stunning Outfits

In March 2018, Karishma, a South Asian lifestyle & fitness blogger met Shay for the very first time at a conference in Washington, D.C, followed by a meeting again at the hotel bar on the same day. Since then, they both have been inseparable.

Proposal Story

After dating each other for a whole year, Shay surprised Karishma by proposing to her at the DoubleTree Hilton’s Japanese Garden in LA in front of their family members. After the proposal, Shay took Karishma to her parents' place where another surprise party was waiting for her with all the family members and friends.

Engagement Ring

Karishma was always on the lookout for that perfect ring while they were dating and she she sent her mom a picture of the oval cut she liked, just in case Shay ever asked for Karishma's design. To her surprise, she was not wrong, Shay did get her an oval-cut diamond ring and it all worked out well.

Wedding Details

The couple was planning to get married in Udaipur, India, but due to Covid restrictions, they shifted their destination to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Karishma wanted a lot of flowers especially on her wedding day as she wanted a full white wedding so that everyone’s outfits would pop and it turned out amazing!

The couple did their wedding shopping via Whatsapp with the help of Karishma's mother who went to India for them.

The couple hosted a total of 5 events - The Welcome Night, the Haldi ceremony, Sangeet night, Wedding day, and Reception night.

Event Decor

For the 1st event that is the welcome party, the couple went for a Boho theme, and it was perfect given that it was by the beach.

The next day, during the Pithi, also known as the Haldi ceremony, the whole area was decorated with flowers, inspired by the bride's Pinterest boards.

The Sangeet night decor was conceptualized last minute but looked every bit gorgeous. Karishma, the bride told her vision of having a lot of lights and orange to make her outfit shine and compliment the decor, and Prashe Decor did an amazing job.

For the wedding, the bride was determined to have an all-white floral theme and a big cherry blossom tree. She knew that the all-white color theme will make everybody stand out.

The couple wanted each theme to be different, thus, for the reception night, they went for a black boho theme. They not only wanted to change up the colors but also wanted to repurpose the props and installations used previously for wedding decor, especially the cherry blossom tree, which turned out to be very beautiful.

Couple Outfits

The bride, Karishma designed all her and Shay's outfits with pawanandpranav in Juhu, Mumbai, India. She wanted each outfit to match the themes selected for the wedding events.

Her jewelry was from courio cottage and Vijay jewelers in Mumbai, India.

Karishma went for unique outfits for her wedding events, whether it was the cropped blouse and pants on the welcome night or her metallic purple Amit Aggarwal lehenga on the Sangeet night that she bought from Aza Fashions.

Complementing his pretty bride, the groom was also seen wearing classic outfits looking all dapper. The selection of colors was minimal yet so chic, and we loved the sangeet look where he chose a deep purple shade to compliment Karishma’s metallic purple outfit.

We loved the Haldi look where the bride chose a powder blue outfit with mirror work and completed her look with flower accessories. The unique part about her look was the thigh slit on her lehenga making it a beautiful combination of traditional and modern styles. The groom, perfectly complimented Karishma's outfit with a similar color Kurta Pyjama.

For the wedding, where Karishma went with the traditional red lehenga, Shay was wearing a baby pink sherwani, both looking elegant and regal.

For the last leg of the events. the reception night with a boho theme was a huge hit. Karishma was seen wearing a shiny silver lehenga with a chic hairstyle, and Shay looking dapper in a black tux.

Songs

The bride’s entrance song was “Can’t help falling in love by Kina Grannis”. The reason for choosing this melody was because it perfectly described the way she felt for her husband, Shay, and when she first listened to this song, she imagined herself walking down the aisle to it.

Tips From The Bride

1. Week off, just let go and have the best time ever! You worked this hard to get here, now it’s your time to enjoy. Sometimes things don’t go as planned and that’s okay.

2. Wear 2-3 inch heels, trust me you’ll thank me later. You’re walking so much and moving around you rather be comfortable than anything else.

3. Don’t worry about anyone else but you and your partner. This is your moment guys.

4. Pack sheet masks and put them on the night before the wedding, it will help give that extra glow.

5. Apply coconut oil on your mehndi so the Pithi doesn’t stain in, it was a huge game changer for me.

6. Just have fun and enjoy!

Special Shoutout from the bride“I’d like to thank every single one of my vendors for doing such an amazing job! The number one shoutout will go to Nirali, our incredible wedding planner.
